Intuit SMB MediaLabs’ Advertising Guidelines
Overview
The following advertising guidelines have been developed to help ensure Intuit’s SMB MediaLabs’ advertising products and solutions (“MediaLabs”): (i) deliver value to Intuit’s small and medium size business (“SMB”) customers and our advertising clients that wish to reach those audiences, all while ensuring the safety and integrity of our service. These guidelines are not intended as legal advice and following these guidelines does not serve as legal compliance. Advertisers on MediaLabs are responsible to make sure their ads and associated links within ads direct users to content that complies with Intuit’s policies as well as applicable laws, statutes, and regulations.
Advertising Content Guidelines
These guidelines apply to all Advertisements (each an “Ad” and or together “Ads”) delivered via MediaLabs. Intuit expressly reserves the right to reject or remove any Ad in its sole discretion at any time. Final and ongoing approval of all creative material is at the sole discretion of Intuit. In addition, Intuit reserves the right, at any time, to re-evaluate previously approved creative material to ensure ongoing compliance with our advertising guidelines, including in the event that creative material elicits significant negative feedback.
General Content Requirements
All Ad materials or creative of any kind, including landing pages or pop-ups to which a viewer is directed through any link (the “Content”) should adhere to these general requirements:
- Content advertised through MediaLabs should be relevant to SMB audiences.
- Ads must directly relate to the Content a viewer is directed to, and must clearly identify the company, product or service, and brand that is being advertised.
- Content must comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Content and all use of MediaLabs will ensure that any other party’s intellectual property, logo, graphic, artwork, audio, film, celebrity, or person is properly licensed and will not violate the intellectual property rights of any third party.
- All claims included in Content must be adequately substantiated.
- Content may not include use of the Intuit name, logo or brand features without prior written approval from Intuit.
- Content cannot mimic or resemble Intuit’s trade dress or suggest or imply any endorsement or partnership with Intuit without prior written approval from Intuit.
- Ads may not deceive small businesses into providing or disclosing personal information under false pretenses or for the purpose of reselling, trading or misusing that personal information.
- Ads must not contain incorrect grammar, misspellings or excessive capitalization.
- Ads must not include profanity or graphic language, expressed or implied, through the use of acronyms, emojis or other abbreviations.
- Ads must not reference or imply a user’s personal characteristics, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, religion, beliefs and sexual orientation.
- Content to which a user is directed must contain an easily accessible privacy policy that complies with Privacy Laws and contains, at minimum: (i) a description of the collection and use of data from and about end users for targeted advertising purposes and the types of data collected for such purposes by third parties, including media platforms; (ii) a disclosure of usage of third party technology to collect and use such data (or transfers of data to third parties); (iii) and a conspicuous mechanism for end users to exercise an opt-in or opt-out choice with respect to such data collection, including with respect to cookies and similar technologies as is required by law or otherwise in accordance with industry self-regulatory principles.
Intuit may also prohibit advertising products or services that are contrary to its Content Moderation Principles.
Prohibited Content
- Children in dangerous or adult situations. Instances of this can involve children being close to or handling weapons, not following safety rules like wearing helmets or seatbelts, or being unsupervised in potentially hazardous places (swimming pools, busy roads, or areas surrounding dangerous equipment).
- Messaging or imagery that directly targets, appeals to, or otherwise collects information from children.
- Deceptive, false, or misleading content.
- Ads that portray: exploitative or emotionally disturbing content, including content that portrays abused humans or animals.
- Content that promotes practices that can result in the physical or mental harm of customers.
- Content that encourages, glamorizes or depicts excessive consumption of drugs or alcohol.
- Exploitation of sensitive events such as natural disasters, human-caused disasters, incidents of mass trauma and/or casualties or the death of public figures.
- Content depicting excessive violence or gore.
- Pornography or explicit sexual content.
- Full or partial nudity, revealing visible intimate body parts: genitals, female breasts (not including breastfeeding), and buttocks.
- Obscenity, or content that is defamatory, libelous, illegal or invasive of another's privacy.
- Political content or content concerning controversial social issue
- Religious advocacy, either advocating or demeaning/mocking any religion.
- Threatens, abuses, harasses, or discriminates against a protected group (whether based on race, color, national origin, religion, disability, sex, sexual orientation, disability, age or any similar or another category).
Prohibited Products and Services:
To maintain the standards of the MediaLabs platform, we do not allow Ads from businesses that offer these types of services, products, or content:
- Adult content and services, including adult dating, escort services, sex toys, and merchandise.
- Alcohol and drug addiction treatment.
- Counterfeit goods
- Cryptocurrencies
- Fireworks and other explosives.
- Gambling services or products
- Hazardous Goods and Materials
- Illegal drugs and paraphernalia
- Knives (except for kitchen knives, cutlery, and general multi-purpose camping knives).
- Lethal and non-lethal weapon sales, including guns, gun parts, kits, gun racks, mace, black powder, and ammunition
- Oils, supplements, or ingestibles that are derived from or contain hemp, cannabidiol (CBD), THC, or otherwise related to cannabis.
- Online pharmacies.
- Paintball guns, airsoft guns, BB Guns.
- Permanent tattoo and body modification (e.g., branding) products and accessories (e.g., tattoo ink). Exceptions: Temporary/non-permanent tattoos, temporary tattoo ink, care products (e.g., skin creams, care kits).
- Tobacco-related products and any products that simulate tobacco smoking (e.g., e-cigarettes and vaporizers).

- For media campaigns that utilize the Meta and Facebook platforms, Client agrees to accept and comply with the Self-Serve Ad Terms, Terms of Service, and the Commercial Terms available through https://www.facebook.com/policies_center.

We may make changes to this policy from time to time. Should we make changes, your continued use of the MediaLabs services constitutes your acceptance of these changes.
