Making an impact in the world of education

In 2017, Intuit India launched The Girl Child Education Program with the aim of empowering young girls' future through comprehensive education support, including after-school education, life skills training, and career guidance. A total of 1,731 girl students have been awarded scholarships through the program.

In February 2021, Intuit India introduced the employee referral program, which encouraged employees to refer deserving students and become ambassadors, inspiring the girls and their families.

As a result, Intuit India has received over 800 scholarship applications to date, and employees have been instrumental in spearheading this initiative. Intuit sponsors a girl child's education until her graduation.

These employees are change makers, working towards building a better society. Intuit Rise reflects diversity in its referral program, with 1,340 students selected from families earning below 1 lakh annually, 148 of whom are orphans, and 97 have single parents. Above all, 447 scholars scored above 90%, a testament to their hard work and dedication.

Key initiatives under the program

Sponsorship for girl children

There is a pressing need to support girl students in multiple areas such as financial, educational, moral, soft skills, personality development, career counseling, mental wellness, among others. With this in mind, Intuit India has launched the Intuit Girl Child Mentorship Program. In FY24, the mentorship program saw 100 active mentors signed up, an increase from last year of around 65 sign ups. The mentors have facilitated over 300 sessions, covering topics such as personality development and motivation, as well as conducting parent engagement sessions.

Laptop Donation Program

Girls in the program require a better understanding of the subject at hand—with the right tools and technology. In FY24, through the laptop donation program, we donated 110 refurbished laptops to girl students who scored above 85%. They have access to lessons, enhancing their overall learning experience.

Intuit Girl Child Job Readiness Program

Intuit Rise and LokBharti have partnered to provide job readiness training such as resume writing, corporate culture, career guidance to referrals, increasing their employability. This program is open to final year graduates and diploma holders, with 148 students eligible and 49 already enrolled. The 4-week training includes soft skills development, resume tips and mock interviews. Upon completion of the training, students receive three placement opportunities. If they are not selected, they can attend a 15-day training session to continue improving their career potential.

Aspires to be an English teacher

It has been 10 years since my father passed. After my father’s tragic death in a road accident, my mother and elder sister became my biggest support system. Being the sole earning member of my family, my mother works as a cleaning executive to earn an annual income of Rs. 72,000. She ignores her personal needs to pay for our household and educational expenses. To honor the sacrifices of my parents, I wanted to find a way to support my education on my own.

Thankfully, my cousin educated me about the Intuit's Girl Child Program 2021-22, which is dedicated to support the education of girl children belonging to low-income families. Since my profile matched the eligibility criteria of the scholarship, my family motivated me to submit my application online. Due to their encouragement, I received financial assistance of Rs. 15,000. The scholarship helped me to cover my class 7 fee and other educational expenses. Intuit India is changing the lives of many girl students through the scholarship program. Going forward, I would work hard to excel as a student. This would be my way of expressing gratitude to the Intuit India team.

Aspires to be an engineer

Getting selected as a beneficiary of Intuit Girl Child Program 2021-22 has been one of the most substantial breakthroughs of my life. My father is a priest in a local temple and is a man of minimal needs. While we take pride in living frugally, our educational expenses are significant. Hence, my college principal informed me about the Intuit Girl Child Program which came across as a well-time opportunity to me.

The program supports the education of meritorious girl students from low-income families. Being a 90 percenter throughout school and college, I did not want to discontinue my education at any cost. So, I applied for the scholarship program at quick notice. The application process went smoothly and within a few weeks, I received financial assistance of Rs. 30,000. The amount has been sufficient to cover my third-year college expenses independently. It has been a year since I have had to ask for any assistance from my father, and this gave me a lot of internal satisfaction. Thank you to the Intuit India team for acting in the best interest of students like me. I hope to make you proud of my achievements.
