It’s up to all of us to take care of the planet so that we can have a healthy planet for generations to come. We’ve been carbon neutral since 2015. But we’re not stopping there. We’re working toward our climate-positive goal of reducing 2 million metric tonnes of CO2 by the year 2030. That’s 50X our 2018 footprint and the equivalent of taking 430,000 cars off the road for one year.
We’ve also launched new programs focused on climate solutions for employees, customers, and the communities we serve. Here’s more information about the progress we’ve made to tackle climate change and help care for our planet.
Helping our employees
We’re dedicated to helping our 14,700+ employees around the world find new ways to be more sustainable at work and at home. Intuit employees can now calculate their at-home carbon footprint and receive recommended solutions to reduce them.
We’ve introduced a partner, YellowTin, to help U.S.-based employees make better informed decisions about switching to more cost-effective, electricity-based solutions.
Additionally, we offer an annual $1,300 wellness benefit that can be used toward sustainability-related expenses, including home solar power, electric vehicles, electric bikes, energy efficiency improvements, water conservation solutions, composting systems, and more.
Helping our customers
It’s our goal to help 1 million small businesses reduce their carbon emissions by 50% by 2030.
To accomplish that, we’ve brought together sustainable business-solution providers via the Intuit Climate Action Marketplace. Honored by Fast Company in their annual World-Changing Ideas Awards, this online marketplace allows businesses to make sustainable swaps to help reduce their impact on the environment in actionable and meaningful ways depending on their industry.
We further amplify our impact through key partnerships with SME Climate Hub, the United Nations Global Compact, and Project Drawdown to provide global reach, compliance, and easier implementation strategies.
Helping communities prosper
Across our Prosperity Hub communities, we provide creative sustainable solutions, like city-wide solar power.
Also, through our education partnerships, we’ve helped train and empower hundreds of local students to solve climate-related problems. In 2021, we teamed up with global education nonprofit, Enactus, to design and support the Race for Climate Action. Teams of students from across the world submitted projects to reduce carbon emissions while creating jobs.
As part of our job readiness initiative, we believe students should have the chance to develop the skills and mindset they need to enter the workforce and contribute to their communities– this includes helping the planet and changing our world for the better..
Continuing our work to support the health of our planet
On Earth Day 2022, we were recognized as the top-ranking software company, and third American business overall, for our work to address climate change by JUST Capital.
But, our work isn’t done. Every day is Earth Day.
Together we can make a positive impact on our environment and provide a more sustainable future.
