A message from Alex Chriss, EVP and General Manager, Intuit Small Business and Self-Employed Group
The success of small businesses is essential to fulfilling Intuit’s mission to power prosperity around the world.
With QuickBooks’ robust ecosystem of best-in-class financial management solutions, and Mailchimp, the world’s leading customer relationship management and marketing platform, Intuit has never been better positioned to bring small and mid-market businesses the end-to-end solutions they need to solve their biggest challenges.
To achieve this we have intentionally aligned our resources and teams to take full advantage of this strength, and recently made several key decisions to accelerate for our customers around the world:
- We will spur our global expansion efforts by leading with Mailchimp, solving small businesses’ top problem – “getting customers” – with a low-friction, low-compliance product that can scale quickly;
- We will double down on bringing the entire QuickBooks ecosystem to our core markets in the U.S., UK, Canada, and Australia; and
- We will solve the accounting and bookkeeping needs of small businesses in most other markets around the world with our Rest of World (RoW) QuickBooks platform offerings.
With Mailchimp as the tip of the spear, we have a clear path to drive global expansion outside of the U.S. Mailchimp offers Intuit a new, scalable entry point to become the source of truth for small businesses around the world. By leaning into this momentum and leveraging Mailchimp to penetrate and scale outside of the U.S, we can accelerate how we solve the top customer problem of “Getting Customers” from a position of strength. We will speed customer acquisition and leverage the opportunity to serve small and mid-sized businesses globally leading with the Mailchimp CRM capabilities.
In the U.S., UK, Canada and Australia where we have established product-market fit with QuickBooks, we are maximizing customer and business impact by increasing investment to deliver more of our QuickBooks ecosystem offerings. In these markets, we are also investing to accelerate Mailchimp innovation and continue building out our platform so customers have the power to combine their customer data from Mailchimp and QuickBooks’ purchase data to get the actionable insights they need to grow and run their businesses with confidence.
We’ve learned from successfully serving customers around the world that globally we can meet more small businesses’ core bookkeeping and accounting needs without providing country-specific offerings in most markets outside of the U.S., UK, Canada, and Australia. After April 30, 2023 the current version of Intuit QuickBooks Online Software for small businesses and accountants in Brazil and Mexico will no longer be available. We will serve these markets in the future with our RoW QuickBooks platform offerings, enabling localized compliance through our QuickBooks App Store in partnership with local developers. We are still in the process of defining our future product approach and presence in France.
To effectively deliver these benefits for our small business customers around the world, we had to also make some hard decisions. Unfortunately, this included role reductions and closure of our small sites in Brazil and Mexico. Guided by our core values and principles we are supporting our impacted colleagues and customers in these markets through this transition with compassion and care.
