Today, 6,000 pages of tax code stands between American families and what is often their largest check of the year. That’s a big problem. At Intuit, we believe that a simpler tax code means simpler taxes for everyone. And for years, we’ve been publicly calling for a simpler US tax code for all Americans. Our work to simplify the tax code started over 30 years ago with the creation of Intuit TurboTax, and we’re always evolving to find new ways to help. One way we do this is through our team of tax experts who work in communities nationwide, and help our customers maximize their tax situations and financial prosperity. Here’s a closer look at their stories.
“The tax code is overly complex. When I turn a bad experience into a good one – a rewarding experience – that is the best part.” —Agnes
Agnes, an Intuit TurboTax Full Service Tax Expert, began working as a CPA in 1987. Since relocating to the US from Puerto Rico, she has helped hundreds of clients navigate the US tax code. She wants to empower people financially and ensure everyone understands their taxes.
“I want taxpayers to feel supported. I really try to educate and bring people along the path to help them get an understanding. If I can help make it easier, better, nicer for them, that’s how I aim to bring joy.” —Kristen
Kristen, CPA, is the founder and owner of Sherwood Tax & Accounting and the founder of Breakaway Bookkeeping + Advising. She keeps up on all of the latest changes in the tax code (and there are a lot) and how it impacts her clients. She believes that a simpler tax code can help Americans feel more empowered when it comes to understanding their financial picture.
“It’s really about understanding everyone’s situation. It’s about getting taxpayers the help they need.” —Rafael
Being part of a close-knit community in Miami, Rafael, an Intuit TurboTax Verified Pro, takes pride in ensuring the community he came from has the tools and knowledge to approach tax season with confidence. His goal is to break down tax complexities so people feel empowered.
“It’s our job to help remove the anxiety of understanding the tax code. When people can find comfort, that fuels me to keep going” —Al-Nesha
Al-Nesha, CPA, MBA, and founder of ASE Group, is a working mother of three who started her business with a newborn and now employs other working mothers. She balances family and work, sharing an office space with her husband and supporting her New Jersey community.
At Intuit, we believe that tax season should be, well, less taxing. That’s why we provide expert support to ensure taxpayers have the tools, confidence, and resources they need to navigate an ever-changing and overly complex tax landscape. While we’re doing our part, we’re also calling on Congress to help simplify the tax code for the benefit of all Americans.
Stay tuned as we share more stories from our tax experts in the coming weeks.
